How to Find Football Players Near You
Every grassroots footballer knows the pain: it's the night before the match, and two of your regulars have dropped out. You need players, fast.
The Old Way
You post in every WhatsApp group, Facebook group, and ask friends of friends. It's slow, unreliable, and you never know what you're getting.
The SquadLock Way
Open the Ringer Marketplace in SquadLock and search for available players within your area. Filter by:
- •Position — Need a goalkeeper? Filter for GK.
- •Skill rating — Every player has a 1-5 star rating based on peer reviews.
- •Reliability score — See what percentage of matches they actually show up to.
- •Distance — Find players within walking distance of your pitch.
How It Works
- Open SquadLock and tap Ringers in the bottom tab
- Allow location access so we can find players near you
- Browse results sorted by distance and skill
- Tap a player to see their full profile
- Hit Invite to Match to send them a notification
The Panic Button
If it's truly last-minute, use the Panic Button on your match screen. This sends an instant alert to all nearby ringers who match the positions you need. We've seen ringers respond within 2 minutes.
Tips for Finding Great Ringers
- •Book early — The best players get snapped up. Search the day before, not the morning of.
- •Check reliability scores — A 4-star player with 95% reliability is better than a 5-star player who no-shows half the time.
- •Save favourites — Found a great ringer? Favourite them so they're easy to find next time.
- •Be a good host — Welcome ringers, introduce them to the squad. Good vibes = they'll come back.
